The project contains a dictionary.txt file for use with QAR file extractors such as MGSV QAR Tool and GzsTool, it also contains a complete list of hashes used by the game for reference. That's why the MGSV QAR Dictionary Project is a project to name every file in MGSV, so that modders have a reference of known filenames to use, and a place to help out other modders by adding any others they find. if the game wants the file "/Fox/Scripts/Gr/gr_a" it would just hash the string "/Fox/Scripts/Gr/gr_init", then search inside its data archives for the hash of it (eg 0x3228caff179b0) to get the data for that file.īut if modders don't know the file is called "/Fox/Scripts/Gr/gr_a" then it'll be a tough job for them to find it. This is fine for a game which knows what data it wants to use, but makes it hard for modders to find/categorize data used by the game without resorting to reverse engineering/bruteforcing, making a modders job a lot harder.Įg. but work hard and reach level 98, and you'll STILL have a 30% chance of finding an S Rank soldier in the field! This is the sort of progression you see throughout the game with other ranks. By the time you reach level 64, that's doubled to 30%. With an average motherbase platform level of 58, you have a 15% chance of finding an S Rank soldier in the field. In a practical sense, this unfortunately means that once you reach an average motherbase platform rank of 64, the quality of the soldiers you find in the game will suddenly grind to a near halt.
It turns out that, although the game was once supposed to give you those soldiers, they have been disabled from ever spawning in the single player game, forcing you to get involved in online gameplay (and so hopefully spend real money on "MB coins") if you want to see them.
Ever notice how you never retrieve S+ and S++ soldiers in the field while Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? You may come across some Boasters that appear to have such high stats, but once you're back in motherbase they will always drop down to S Rank or below.
